Why are my labia so dark
Why are my labia so dark? I have fair skin all over my body except on my labia which are a brown color. They have been this way for as long as I can remember. What is the cause of this? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

The cosmetic industry has taken advantage of womens’ insecurity by offering vaginal bleaching treatments (which temporarily lighten the skin in that area), but this can be costly and can sometimes be painful if not done properly. More importantly, it is completely unnecessary.
It is completely normal to have darker coloration on your labia than other areas of your body. This is a trait that you share with a big proportion of women. While it is more common among women of color, it is common among women from all groups, and is not a cause for concern.
